THE MULTIMEDIAL SYSTEM IN THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM

The Museum is equipped with a multimedial system with a program entitled "The Phoenician and Punic settlement of Monte Sirai" structured as a virtual guide book.

Multimedial system
(particular on the touch screen)

The reader can choose through the "touch screen" four thematic sections: the history of the site, the house, the death and the sacred. The whole consists of about 300 "schede" accompanied by pictures, reconstructions of the town and its monuments, and by the texts with further ipertextual fragments. The section or itinerary provides an exhaustive historical picture from the Neolithic Age to time when the town was abandoned, the second section describes the topography of the settlement during its different periods of life, the most representative houses and their respective building technique, the third regards the two necropolises and the burial rituals within the Phoenician and the Punic sphere; the last section concerns the spiritual world and the sacred places of the community.
This program, moreover, assures to the Museum the virtual presence of some important objects coming from Monte Sirai but stored, at present, in the National Archaeological Museum of Cagliari.
